Dear SIG Mobility member,

The SIG Mobility Meeting in Prague (20-21 May 2010), organised with local organiser Kamila Rasova, has been very succesfull. More than 50 participants attended from more than 15 different countries, and it was nice to notice intensive professional and social interaction between both well-known SIG members as well as newcomers during these days.

The final program of this in-between meeting of the SIG Mobility Group illustrates the topics, which focused on goal setting and outcome measures as well as different contemporary European treatment approaches (see title of meeting: ‘the Content of Physical Rehabilitation’). The presence of professionals from both west and eastern Europe, and both northern and southern Europe stimulated exchange and discussions about what we really are doing in clinical practice, and how health care services are organised for MS patients. We also appreciated the presentation of EMSP (European MS Platform) at the meeting. At the last day, also own research or translation of research in clinical practice was presented.

Also first results of the multi-center walking study were presented and discussed, and will likely lead to recommendations for gait assessment. Up to 10 different centers participated to this study leading to a large number of data of patients. We appreciate very much the collaboration and excellent quality of data collection and plan further data collection in future. In future, also other multi-center studies on other topics such as balance and arm function will likely be initiated. Don’t inform us if you would be interested to be informed.

Next in-between meeting of the SIG Mobility will likely be organised in Barcelona, Spain in the second half of 2011. We thank Carme Santoyo for her hospitality.

We look forward to meet you soon at the coming RIMS annual conferences.
